Numerical Studies of Heat Transfer Parameters during Injection Feeding of Powders into the Rail Steel Melt in Ladle-Furnace

Technological features of powdered reagents injection into the melt using a submersible tuyere were investigated for research and development main provisions rail steel out–of-furnace treatment in ladle-furnace. Authors analyzed characteristics influence directed heat flow through conditional separation wall from metal to two-phase gas-powder under purging conditions. Using numerical methods, we determined parameters surface temperature on transporting gas, concentration powder its density, flow, including aerodynamic drag coefficient, pressure difference phase velocities, equivalent diameter, particle shape coefficient. The obtained experimental results show that, at fixed rate more significant flows are created by lighter gas (nitrogen) ensuring stable operation blowing device, while diameter particles does not affect amount transferred gas. It was established when tuyeres heating gas–powder 500–600°C, strength interfacial interaction changes 2 10 times depending injected powder, density.
